BRAC Supports the 130th, Listens to State’s Leaders

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today the BRAC sided with the 130th Airlift Wing after listening to the arguments made by West Virginia’s leaders.

“Bravo to Governor Manchin and Senator Rockefeller for a job well done and especially to Senator Byrd for leading the charge.” said West Virginia State
Democratic Party Chairman Nick Casey. “They never gave up on the 130th, just as the 130th has never given up on West Virginia.”

The 130th was routinely one of the most highly decorated Air National Guard units in the country, receiving numerous readiness awards. The 130th is also
operating in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“West Virginia gave its electoral votes to help make Bush President and he thanked us by trying to pull more than 800 good-paying jobs out of the state.”
Casey stated. “Apparently, President Bush thought the 130th was good enough for a photo-op, but not good enough to defend the nation.”

“Thankfully the BRAC saw the value of the dedicated, hard-working men and women of the 130th,” Casey said. “West Virginia knew their value all along and
we are glad to ‘Keep ‘Em Flying’.”
