WHY IS KEVIN MAYNUS YOUR CHOICE FOR HOUSE OF DELEGATES?
The reasons you should vote for Kevin Maynus for the House of Delegates for Raleigh and Summers County involve initiative,
perspective and integrity. As a citizen, you should accept nothing less.
I am a blind man and my initiative is proven. Through initiative and drive, my visual impairment is not relevant. Despite
obstacles, I have earned two bachelors and one graduate level degree. I have worked numerous jobs in my life including my
current position with the Mountain State Centers for Independent Living in Beckley. In this capacity, I have worked with past
and present legislators on issues including public education, transportation, Medicare/Medicaid, and healthcare for senior
citizens and children. As a member of the House of Delegates, the citizens I represent will benefit from this proven and powerful
initiative.
Second, I have a social perspective that few candidates can claim. I am not a candidate that merely imagines the social
element. I have lived it. I have navigated life by working any job attainable from digging ditches and picking up trash to
performing clerical, supervisory and legislative related work. By nature of my visual impairment, I have the perspective that
any handicapped, disadvantaged or senior citizen might feel. Other candidates may occasionally try to "walk in the shoes"
of others, but they always have the luxury to take them off. Through my studies in Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Public
Education, I have gained a formal education in many vital issues. As a Systems Advocacy Specialist, I have listened and taken
action toward many social issues affecting this state with the mediums available to me. Coming from a family of coal miners
and members of the Armed Forces currently in the Middle East, I have the perspective of sacrifice and pride. To the citizens
of Raleigh and Summers County, I am the "neighbor next door". I have and continue to experience daily, the social issues of
this state. I have monitored and advocated our state legislature for several years and I know I can make a positive difference
as your delegate.
Perhaps most important, my integrity will never be compromised. As your representative, I will work hard and take responsibility
to improve the quality of life in Raleigh and Summers County with a fair and logical approach. I am a candidate that would
be honored to serve you.
